Take extreme care in handling all instrumentation, especially gyroscopic instruments. They contain many fragile and calibrated parts and even small impacts on the instrument can be costly.
“Be extremely careful when setting indicator (gyroscope) on fixtures, work benches, etc., or when handling. Remember, dropping one end of an indicator 3/4-inch is equivalent to a 20G impact” – J.E.T. Component Maintenance Manual.
